Why do I need a Subscription Account Number (SAN#)? How do I get one?


If you are engaging in telemarketing to consumers, it is your responsibility to remove individuals who appear on the Do Not Call list before calling them. If you do not do this, you risk the possibility of a fine for each person contacted who is currently on this list. To find out who is on the Do Not Call List, you will need to register for a Subscription Account Number (SAN#). Registration is free for up to five area codes.

Here are step-by-step instructions for obtaining a SAN#. This process should take 5 minutes.

  • Visit the following page: https://telemarketing.donotcall.gov/Profile/Create.aspx
  • Scroll down and complete both the Organization Information and Authorized Representative forms. Then click Submit.
  • Write down or print out your Organization ID and passwords.
  • At the left side of the screen, click Manage/Renew Subscriptions.
  • Enter your Organization ID and Password. Choose the Representative radio button. Click Log In.
  • Complete this additional form in its entirety. You will be required to specify the area codes or geographic areas you wish to register for. After completing this form, you will be provided with your Subscription Account Number (SAN#). Please print this out for your records.

* If you are placing a telemarketing list order for consumers with USADATA, you may be required to provide a SAN#.
